(From our own .Correspondent.) Dunedin, 18th April, 9.10 ajn. A waggoner named Charles Tyler was received into the hospital yesterday from one of the up country districts having his left arm frightfully mutilated through being crushed by the cart wheels. The date of the trial of Reginav. M'lntosh for forgery is now definitely fixed for Friday 24th April, and of Eegina v. Long for murder, for Monday, 27th ApriL Both cases will be heard before a special jury. A coach capsized in Waimumu Creek, Southland, yesterday. It was a narrow escape for the passengers, and one horse was drowned. The coach floated down the river, and was eventually dragged ashore. The Dunedin passengers were Lachman, Hart, and Baldwin, who had a narrow escape from drowning. A valuable case of jewellery belonging to Haymen & Co. was miraculously washed ashore. The examiners in the competition for Provincial Scholarships sent in their report, but the results of the competition will not bo made know till Tuesday next. The performance by the Press Amateur Dramatic Club in aid of the Scott Scholarship fund realised from £55 to £60 net.
