APRIL FOOLS.
(To tlie Editor.)
Sib, — In your issue of tho Bth inst., I notice a paragraph referring to a hoax said to have been played upon the local medico of Roxburgh, and which evidently emanates from one of those who were marie April Fools by the telegram to which reference is made ; the misrepresentations concerning which distinctly proving that the " fool " was foolishly annoyed at the exhibition he made of his real character. The matter is really not worth noticing ; but, just for contradiction sake, I beg to inform you that the telegram was written by the local medico himself, and that certain individuals, who, looking down a3 they do upon others from the pedestal of an inordinate conceit and solf-opinionated-r.ess did not of course relish the i lea of having been made Api'il Fools, were nevertheless completely and, to the perpetrator of the joke, very satisfactorily hoaxed. The paragraph iv question reminds one of the cackling of a certain ridiculous aud web-footed birJ, to the species of which its writer evidently belongs, and t& whom one o£ Solomon's proverbs regarding the laughter of a fool is certainly applicable. — I am, &c, The Local Medico.
