Messrs. M'Landbess, Hepbuen, and Co. report that on Saturday they sold, on account of H. F. Hardy, Esq., the Mosgiel Junction township. The attendance was very good, especially of people from the neighborhood of the township. The sections, about i-acre each, were offered at an upset price of £10 each, and the result was the sale of 36 sections out of 75, at prices ranging from the upset of. £10 to £-15 per section, yielding £648, and showing an average of £18 each. The sale of this township gives additional evidence of the desirability of offering property at a low upset price. Messrs. Weight, SteitiKXSOX and Co. report for the week ending 28th March, as follows :—: — Fat Cattle. — There was a fair supply, 100 hoad being yarded, chiefly of mi.ldling quality. Prime sold at a slight, advance on late rates. We quote first quality, 20s to 22s per lOOlbs; middling do., 18s. We sold privately 30 head at, from £5 10s to £7 10s each. Fat Sheep. — 1130 were penned, consisting of merino ewes and wethers, with a very few eross-breds. "We sold-226 merino wethers at 8s 9:1, and 55 do ewes at 6s 3J. We also roLI privately, for delivery next month, 1000 merino 'wethers at 2jd per lb. We quote prime half,breds, 2id per lb; do. merinos, 2d to 2Jtd. Store Sheep. — Almost all descriptions are enquired for. We sold 3GOO full mouthed ewes at from 4b.3dto4s 9d j and 1750 halfbreds at from 7s to to 8s Gd. AYe quote halfbred ewes, 8s 8d to 10s ; do wethers, 6s ; do lambs, 7s 6d to 8s ; merino, 5s to 5s 6d ; do ewes, 4 and 6- tooth, 7a ; do do, full-mouthed, 4s to 4s 6J.Country Sales. — At Mosgiel, on Thursday, 26th inst., we soli by auction 2400 fullmouthed ewes at from 4s 3d to 4s 9d ; 259 half-bred wethers, small and m low condition, at 6b 6d ; 147 store merino wethers, full and broken-mouthed, at 4s 3d ; 15 Leicester rams, at from 32s 6d to 52s 6d. On Friday, 27th inst., at Saddle Hill, we held a sale by auction, on account of Mr. John Fagan, of his farms, live-stock, and implements. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited. Rock View Farm, consisting of 115 acres, brought £1065 cash, the buyer being Mr. Andrew Frew. 100 acres in the Boat Harbor district, fenced, but not broken up, was knocked down to the same buyer at £2 18s per acre, cash. Fat bullocks brought from £5 10s to £7 13s ; dairy cows, £1 15s to £6 10s ; yearlings, 30s ; draught horses, £25 10s to £40; light do, £7 to £15. Implements and household furniture, satisfactory rates. Horses. — There is still a good demand for heavy draughts. At our yards on Saturday, a considerable number of both draught and light stock changed hands. One pair of fine groy carriage horses brought £(51. We sold, on account of Messrs. Wm. Lawson, Grant, and M'Donald, 26 head light horses, provincial bred, at from £8 10s. to £12 ; and on account of Mr. John Trestrail, the balance of his draught horses, ex Omeo, from Melbourne, at from £35 to £50. We also sold the following racing stock : — Peri, brown mare, by Scud, at £■16 ; Ada Colt, by Malton, at £160 ; filly, out of Miss King dam, at £41 ; Malabar, by Malton, at £40 ; Progress, by Scud, 4 yrs. old, at £34. We quot c—First-classe — First-class draughts, £55 to £64- ; medium do, £30 to £40 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £30 ; medium do, £12 to £15 ; light and inferior, £4 to £7. Wool. — By the Albion, we havo cable telegrams from London, reporting under date of 14th March : — "At the public wool sales, the competition still continues extremely vigorous. Prices are well sustained." Our next public sale of wool, &c.,- will take place on Thursday, 2nd April. Sheepskins. — At our weekly sale on Friday last, we offered several parcels butchers' green skins, which sold as follows : — Merinos, Is. 7d.; cross-bred, 2s. Id.; lambskins, 2s. sd. Grain. — Wheat continues in good demand — first-cla6s samples commanding 4s. 9d. per bushel. Oats have a good enquiry. Old are worth 4s. 2d. to 4s. 4d.; new, 3s. lOil. per., bushel.
