This Ssciety has been formed by an alteration of the Constitution cf the Second New Zealand Building and Mutual Investment Society, 1884. •By its Constitution it is able to transact, evuiy description of business usually undertaken by Building Societies, both on the terminating and the permanent principle. Two Series of Shares on .the terminating system are at present in force —one dating from February, 1864, and the other from Felruary, 1870, The Society has the power to start new series of such shares at any time when it may appear advisable. Two New Hei-ies of Shai-es, called Shares of Clasd A and Class B in the Permanent Series, are now being issued^ Shares in Class A are of the amount of twenty -five pounds each, the principal being paid up in one sum. On these half-yearly dividends are paid at the rate of nine per cent, per annum, and an annual bonus out of the surplus profits. They may be withdrawn at any time on three months' notice, and form the most eligible investment for aurplud fuuds now to be found in the money market. Shares in Class B are of twenty-five pounds each, and will be realised after* seventy-five monthly payments of five shillings each have been made. The holder's of them will also be entitled to a bonus on reulisation, equal to a proportionate share of the surplus profits of the Society during the period over which the monthly payments have run. The moneys of the First and Second Series ' are advanced to Shareholders on mortgage of freehold or hasehold propetties,or uponShures in the Society wholly or in part paid up. The amounts available for advance are sold by auction art the monthly meetings to the highest bidder, who, from the (.'are of the advance, pays a redemption fee of 10s. per month for each L6O Share advanced until the termination of the Series. Moneys of the Permanent Series are lent on similar securities, repayable by monthly instalments extending over a fixed nunjber of years.
