London, March 12. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, accompanied by the Queen, made their public entry into London to-day. Notwithstanding a heavy snowstorm, the route from Paddington to Buckingham Palace was crowded. The reception was most enthusiastic. Charles Orton has signed a declaration that the Tichborne Claimant is his brother. Captain Sartorius, with twenty men belonging to Captain Grlover's Expedition, recently traversed the ruins of Coomassie, and found the place quite deserted. The death is announced of Senator Charles Suniner, of the United States, aged 63. March 13. In a letter Mr. Gladstone consents to remain as the leader of the Liberal party in the House of Commons, with occasional attendance at Parliament during the present Session, but reserves to himself the liberty of future retirement, and will retire immediately if desired. Paris, March 12. The New French Electoral Law presented to the National Assembly provides that each arrondissement shall elect a deputy. Electors to be qualified by being twenty-five years of age. This bill disfranchises three million voters. March 14th. Mr. Disraeli, in his address to the electors of Buckinghamshire, said the Government would uphold all National Institutions, and defend the rights of all classes. At the public wool sales the competition still continues extremely vigorous. Prices were well sustained. The corn market is firm. Wheat has advanced 6d. to Is. Money is firmer. The stock market is recovering. Cape Coast advices up to the 22nd. Februray state that all the troops have embarked except the 42nd Highladers. General Wolesley remains awaiting the arrival «f the Hon. Mr. Berkley, the newlyappointed Governor of Gambia. General Wolesley leaves on the 7th March. Bkrxin, March 14th. The German Parliament have rejected the clause in the Army Bill, placing the peace footing of the German Army at 416,590 men The National party insist on a reduction. Bismarck is confined to his room suffering from an attack of gout. Vienna, March 14th. A papal encyclical condemns the Austrian Ecclesiastical Bills, and urges upon Bishops to protect the rights of the Church. The Pope has written after the same strain to the Emperor Francis Joseph. LoNDOJr, March 16th. The Brindisi mail has been delayed. The Northumberland, s s., has sailed for Melbourne . The majority of the Prince Imperial has been celebrated at Chiselhurst, on which occasion there were • 6,000 people present. The Prince in replying to the congratulatory address read, declared a plebiscite to be the only remedy for the present political position, and that he would be ready to abide the result. Prince Napoleon was absent. March 17th. A Conservative member has been returned for Oxford City, in the pi we of Mr. Cardwell, who has been raised to the peerage.
