(From the Dunedin Dailies. ) Wellington, March 25. The ship Woodlark has arrived with over 300 immigrants- Eighteen deaths occurred" on the voyage, chiefly amongst the children, from infant diseases. The adults are all well, and but few children are suffering from scarlet fever. There is no apprehension of any serious results. The detention is expected to be short. A meeting of the Provincial Council is called for the 13th April. Auckland, March 25. Mr. A. Dornwell, of Queen street, a butcher, has been sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour, for assaulting and kicking one of his employes. The Bench would not allow a fine. March 26th. The brigantine Hercules, bound for Sydney with a full cargo of timber from the Oratapu saw mills, went ashore at the Kaipara Heads, and there is no probability of getting the vessel off, though it is probable the cargo may be saved. She was insured in the New Zealand Insurance Co. for £500, and the cargo for £1000. A large party, invited by Messrs. Brogden, went by rail to Otahuhu to-day to inaugurate the completion of the line there. Hokitika, March 25. The s.s. Albion arrived at 6 p.m. yesterday from Melbourne, after a rapid passage of five days. March 26th. At the Supreme Court, the second Jury in Hayes' case found a verdict late last night. The prisoners were sentenced to-day : James Hayes, two years ; John Hayes, six months. The latter was recommended to mercy. The charge of gold robbery against James Hayes was abandoned. Chbistchtjrch, March 26th. The Government agricultural statistics, just published, give the following particulars : — Acres under wheat, 71,826 ; estimated yield, 1,706,738 bushels. Oats, 4615 acres ; yield, 38,984 bushels. Barley, 9200 acres ; yield; 249,690 bushels. Potatoes, 1853 acres; yield, 8522 tons. Other crops, 10,178 acres. The total acreage under crop in the Province, including sown grasses, is 382,177 acres.
