Patrick Long was again brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Coui-t charged with the Green Island murder. The Magistrate said he did not consider it necessary to hear further evidence, and that the accused would stand committed for trial.
The barque Severn arrived from New York to-day, which port she left on November 26th.
The Cassa arrived from the Mauritius after a passage of 37 days.
The Colonial Prize Firing, which was to have commenced to-day, was postponed till to-morrow. The Southern representatives only left Wellington for Napier to-day.
