TUAPEKA GOLDFIELDS HOSPITAL
MONTHLY MEETING.
Present : E. H. Carew, Esq., President Dr. Stewart (Resident Surgeon) and the following members of Committee : — Messrs. Armstrong, Bryant, Harrop, Abel, Arthur, Dr. Halley, Jeffery, Roughan, and Hayes (Secretary.) The minutes of last meeting, also of special meeting, were read and confirmed* Dr. Halley asked the Secretary whether the Lawrence clergymen had been communicated with in reference to devoting the proceeds of one Sunday's collection to the benefit of the Hospital. The Secretary stated that they had been written to, but no reply as yet had been received.
The Secretary was instructed to personally wait on the different clergymen, and fix a day for that purpose* The Secretary was further- instructed. %o acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of £4 from Mr. H. Templeton, of Tapanui, being ihe proceeds of a ball given at Tapanui ; also to acknowledge the receipt of £4 collected by Mr. Andrew Taylor, of Tuapeka Mouth.
Mr. Harrop moved, " That a letter be sent to Capfcaia M'Kenzie thanking him for his handsome donation of £20 to the funds ; and at the same time informing him that that sum qualified him as a life governor." Carried.
It was resolved that a letter be. sent to Mr. Dwyep, thanking him for the- sum of £17 18s. 6d., the proceeds of the Hospital Eace won by bis horse at the last meeting. The Resident Surgeon's monthly report was laid on the table. At the beginning of the month there were 15 patients in the Hospital ; 18 were admitted, 17 discharged, and 3 died during the month, leaving 14 in the institution.
