Mbsses J. & A. Maclean report for^week ending 29th ult., as follows : — s Fat Cattmb. — The market was not so largely supplied on Wednesday as it has been lately, about 80 head only being forwarded ; but on account of tbe trade being nearly all supplied, only 50 bead changed hands, at prices averaging from about 20s. per 1001 b. for prime beef, at 17s. 6d. per 1001 b. for medium quality, which we quote as present rates. Fat Sheep. — The large number of 1,200 were penned, principally fair to prime quality, some of which were turned out unsold, the balance realising, for merino weathers, 7s. 6d. to Bs. each ; merino ewes, 4s. 6d. to 65. ; halfbred wethers, 11s. to 12s. 6d. We quote prime cross-breds, 2i per lb ; ditto merinoes, 2d per lb. Fat Lambs. — 300 were penned, and changed bands at prices ranging from 6s. 9d. to 10s. 3d. according to quality. We sold a draft on account of Mr. W. Herman, at quotations.
A Mebcee reports for tbe week ending 31st January, retail prices only : — Fresh butter, in prints, best quality/ls to Is Id per lb ; second quality, Is per lb ; fresh butter, in lumps, 9d to 10 per lb ; prime salt butter, lOd per lb ; cheese, lOd to Is per lb ; side and rolled bacon, lOd to Is per lb ; colonial hams, Is to Is 2d per lb : English hams, Is 8d per lb ; eggs, Is 4d per doz.
