THE CREDIT SYSTEM. {To tJie Editor.) Sib, — I observed in your issue of the 28th ultimo, a letter signed " Limited Liability " shewing up the credit system, which obtains to such a runious extent in the Tuapeka district. I fully concur in the remarks made by the writer of that letter, and would suggest that something be done by the business men of Lawrence to bring about a change for the better. Trade Protection Societies are not things of to-day, and have been found to work admirably. Let the business men here organise themselves into such a society, and hold monthly meetings. There would be no expense whatever in the management of a society of this description. The only qualification required by the business men would be honor and integrity. I believe if this idea were carried into effect both business men and their customers would- be placed on a far better footing. The district would owe a debt of gratitude to^uch a society, as should no steps be taken the rising generation will doubtless be punished for our neglected duty. — I am, ice., Well-wisher.
