Telegrams from Wellington give details of the new mail contract between this colony and New South Wales. Owing to the inability of the contractors to procurPtwelve knot vessels in less than twelve months, two contracts have been entered into — one " temporary and the other " permanent." The first extend* to the 27th November next, and the second to six years from that day. As regards the permament contract, the mails are to be conveyed between San Francisco- and Sydney in 600 hours; between San Francisco and Auckland, in 546 houra ; and to Port Chalmers, in 671 hours. The minimum speed to be twelve knots per hour. The Omeo arrived at the Bluff yesterday from Melbourne.
