THE ALL ENGLAND ELEVEN IN VICTORIA.

The Stawell cricket match proved another surprise, resulting in the defeat of the Eleven by 10 wickets. The small score of 43 made by the English players on the first day was little improved upon in their second innings, which closed for 91. G. F. Grace was the highest scorer with 30, the others who got into double figures being — Scratherton, 15 ; W. G. Grace, 15 ; and Oscroft, 13. The others were nowhere. Five of the number were clean bowled, and the remainder were caught. Cosstick and Conway obtained splendid bowling averages, and Stawell was jubilant over its easily obtained victory. The ground was certainly very bad, but the bowling was good. A general opinion now prevails in all the districts that the Eleven can easily be beaten. In a single wicket match at Stawell the six English professionals obtained only 2 among them, while their opponents made 29. The Sydney match will commence on January 24th. At Warrnambool, the Eleven played against a local Twenty-two. The latter scored 68 in their first innings, and the Eleven 104. W. G. Grace was clean bowled for 18; Jupp made 58^ not out ; M'lntyre, 13 ; Greenwood, 1 ; G. F. Grace, 2; Oscroft, 5; Bonlt, Bush, Gilbert, Lillywhite, and Southerton, all made ducks* eggs. In the second innings, the Twenty-two were disposed of for 51, Southerton and Lillywhite bowling splendidly ; and the Eleven won the match by nine wickets.
