An inquest was held yesterday on the body of William Kennedy, who was killed the previous day by a fall of earth in the railway cutting at Cavenham. The Coroner thought the ganger was to blame in the matter, and adjourned the inquiry until to-day. The boats' crew of the schooner Dauntless .. had a narrow escape from drowning while attempting to cross Kaipara bar. They were picked up in an exhausted condition by the pilot cutter, after being houn in the water. The vestry of St. Pauls iard decided dn •tarting a day school in connection with the Church.
