Correspondence.
THE ROXBURGH PUNT. ( To the Editor. ) SIR, — I observed in your issue of the 7th inst., the report of an entertainment given at this place in aid of the funds of Tuapeka Hospital, in which there are some misstatements regarding thepeople not attending from the east side of the river, because the punt could not be worked. I beg to state that with one exception every person who wished crossed to the entertainment on the punt, and returned by the same meanß. My humble opinion is that the entertainment was held at the wrong place to benefit any institution excepting the public house bar ; but I suppose this, as much as the hospital, was the object of the entertainment. I heard a good many make the remark that had it been held in the schoolhouse, the attendance would have been much lafger, and more satisfactory excepting to one man in.this place. — I am, &c., A Lookee-ox. Roxburgh, Jan. 10th,
