The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, Dunedin, held before His Honor Mr. Justice Chapman and juries of twelve, were brought to a close on Wednesday last. The cases heard were disposed of as follows •.— Catherine M'Donald, who was convicted of the n^nalaughter of John Brigga, was sentenoed to five years' penal servitude j John Thomas Watson, wio pleaded guilty to a oharge of robbery in a hotel, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment with hard labor j Henry Harvey, who waa convicted of stealing a watch, received a sentence of twelve months' imprisonment with hard labor. Peter Sherry, a case of laroeny, received eighteen months' imprisonment with hard labor. Francis Charles South and John Delany were then tried— the former for assaulting 4 constable while in execution of hia duty, the latter for embezzlement at Oamaru, South was aoqnitted, and Delaney. who waa found guilty, was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment with hard lahor. The oivil sittings will begin on Monday next.
