(From a Correspondent DtFNEDin, Dee. 23, 7.51 p.m. His Excellency the Governor and suite ; lUTiTed-4Jt'-iDunedin shortly after four o'clock 'this afternoon. They were met at the Water yf Leith by the Mayor and City Councillors. The Town Clerk Tead an address of welcome, *to which His Excellency replied in a short sensible speech. The afternoon was only partially observed as a holiday. During His progress from the city to FernJEKU, considerable numbers of people lined the 'etreeta, and in response- to rather lukewarm -cheering, he occasionally bowed his acknowledgements. On the whole, the reception was r»ther tame. His Excellency will attend the >' "Choral Society's concert to-morrow evening. Anther serious accident happened to Mr. Ndtaiaa/^Heyibanson, Lowaud Co.'&traveller) *oa Saturday, between Temuka and Timaru.
