WAIPORI,
(From a Correspondent.)
Mr, Hill has been for some time prospecting for the main line of roof, on behalf of the old O.P.Q. Company. This reef ho has traced to a distance of seven hundred yards. It varies in- thickness from four to eight feet; one part is Laid bare at a depth of six feet The stone is -thickly impregnated with gold. I saw a splendid specimen with several specs of gold. This specimen -was the size of tt man's thumb noil. In fact, n few tons could now be raised that would yield Bozs. to the ton. This reef, in my opinion, will be second to none in the province, It is the promoters' intention to bring water to work it. They ttuck to the reef through weal and woe. Their plucky faith will be handsomely rewarded.
The Waiporf Dvep Load Company arc calling tenders for boring.
Our school examination takes place on Friday next. Mr. Walter Dunkley, our teacher, has resigned. Tho Committee have advertised for a substitute.
It is anticipated that the general Christmas wash-up will not be- large. Johnson and Webb are doing well. Uolton and party's wash-up yielded nearly 200 ounces of gold. This was for four months' work for five men.
