On Tuesday night Port Chalmers Cove was again swarming with_rock cod. Sharks, larger than as a rule frequent the upper waters of the harbor, threaten to be plentiful this season. Tho reclamation of part of Mussel Bay is in "a forward condition, and its completion should not be very far behind contract time. The Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand has been very favorably received at Chrißtclmrch, where a considerable number of shares has been applied for. Owing to the small space at the disposal of the contractoi's, the Oaraaru harbor works are delayed in their operations in manufacturing and stacking cement. On Sunday last, the JJuncdiniteß had tho four seasons compressed into six hours ; first mild spring weather, then soft summer, next a sultry heavy autumn, and lastly winter and hail.
