CHRISTMAS SCHOOL PIC-NIC.
{To t/ie Hdilor.)
Sra, — In a late Ttjvpeka. Times I saw that the Lawrence School Committee have recommended their successors (jn other words, themselves, for I expect their re-election) to inaugurate the scholastic new year ■with a local pic-nic. Probably, Evans Flat, Tuapeka Mouth, Bljg^ Spur, Wetherstones, and Clarks Mat, will also have their own pic-nics. Now, here are five unnecessary pic-nics. Why not have only one large pic-nic, in which all the places mentioned would contribute both cash, vehicles, goodwill, and pleasure. Thus, we could muster about one thousand children — • or at least five hundred — and about two or three hundred adults. I sincerely hope the Templars will aid in this matter, because even a drinker will not wish any pic-nic refreshments to be stronger than water. Don't do ! tilings by halves. Let deputies, male and female, be appointed by the school committees of the five places named, and from such delegates let one grand central committee bo appointed. — I am, &c, An Old G-iel. I . Waitahuna, Ist December.
