WAIPORI BOARD OF WARDENS.

Jl meeting of tbe Waipori Board of Wardens was held in the Commercial Hotel on Saturday, the Sthinst. All tbe member* were preteat. The following correspondence was received: — A letter from Mr. Warden Carew, informing the Board of the appointment of Mr. Richard Filling to be Chairman, and requesting tbe Board to fix au early day for considering applications to depasture stock in tbe district; a letter from tbe Receiver of Revenue at Lawrence, enclosing list of applications to depasture cattle ; a letter from Undersecretary Willis. Tbe following letter wm received from Messrs. Cotton k Henry: — " Waipori Ist Nov., 1873. " To the Chairman of Board of Wardens, Waipori. "Dear Sir, — We receive! a notice from the Bond to remove our sheep off the Waipori connnenoge, «ad-»^ur ewes are lambing, it would be a serious loss. for us to remove or mutter them in the meantime. — We remain, yours, "Cotton and Hexby." Tbe Secretary was instructed to acknowledge receipt of Mr. Warden Carew's letter, and also of a map of tbe district,, and to acquaint him oi the date of the next meeting ; and to acknowledge tbe receipt of Messrs. Cotton and Henry 1 * letter. The application* to depasture stock were then taken into consideration. It was resolved that all the applications to depasture great cattle be granted, and that all the application* to depasture Bueep be refused ; and ' the Secretary wm instructed to send a list of the applications granted to the Receiver of Revenue. It wm resolved that the Secretary be instructed to apply to the Government for an annual grant of £5 to defray the management expenses of the Board. As some of the cattle owners have not yet Applied for & depasturing license, it was decided to take atep* to enforce the regulations whenever the Board received notice of the appointment of a ranger. Tbe following bye-laws were passed, and the Secretary was directed to send a copy to the Superintendent to receive his assent : — 1. That no sheep shall be depastured on the TVsipori commonage. 2. That any person depasturing stock in the district shall take out a depasturing license. 8. All stock over tho age of six months ■hall be branded with the registered brand of the owner; and unbranded stock above that sg« may be impounded aad dealt with according to law. 4. No bull over the age of six months, or entire .horse over the age of twelve, *hall be allowed to depasture in the district wiOhout the permission of a majority of the Wardens in writing. 5. No person shall disturb or drive cattle lawfully depasturing upon the commonage, unless for the purpose of collecting such as may belong to him ; but in case it should be necessary for such purpose to drive any cattle belonging to any other person, the person so driving such cattle must take them to the nearest available stockyard, and there separate hi* own cattle from those of other persons, and return the cattle to the place from whence they were driven. 6. No person shall remove any cattle from the district without having given twenty-four hour* notice to tbe Board. 7. No person shall depasture cattle unless th» same is branded with registered brand of tbe bolder of license under which they are depastured. 8. No pig* be allowed to be at large in the district. 9. Tbe penalty for any breach of the foregoing bye-laws* shall be any sum not exceeding £5 sterling.
