WAITAHUNA BOARD of WARDENS
The Waitahuna Board of Wardens met at the Golden Age Hotel, on the 25th instant. A.ll the members were present except Mr. Ryan. A letter froui*Mr. Duncan Ross was received, in which he complained of the hardship inflicted upon him by the regulations of the Board in circumscribing the sheep country ; and prorSising that if the Board would relax the regulations in his case for a few weeks, that he would dispose of his sheep and trouble the j Board no more. Consideration of his I letter was deferred. An answer to an enquiry of the Board was received from the- Warden, in which it was stated that it was not intended to lease any part of Waitahuna Commonage as sheep runs. A3 an instance of the tardiness of the survey department in Dunedia, it was stated that a map of Waitahuna district, applied for afc the first meeting of the Board, and then promised, has not, after a lapse of two months, yet reached the Board. The following bye-laws, in addition to those already passed, were adopted, and ordered to bo forwarded to the Government to be ratified :—: — 1. That any person depasturing stock in the district shall take out a depasturing license. 2. All stock over the age of six months shall be bi*anded with the registoretl brand of the owner ; and unbranded stock above that age may be impounded, and be dealt with according to law. 3. No bull over the ago of six months,or entire fyorse over the age of twelve months, shall be allowed to depasture in the district without the permission, in writing, of the Wardens, dr of a majority of them. 4. No person shall disturb or harass stock depasturing in the district. 5. No person shall remove any cattle from the district without having given twenty-four hours previous notice to the Board, 6. Any stock not being the property of, or which are not brandeVl with the registered brand of the holder of the license under which they are depastured, or which are depastured in CQntravention of any bye-law duly passed, may be impounded, and the owner or custodian of such cattle may be proceeded againsi for trespass. 7. Any person driving cuttle above twenty-four head through the district, shall givetwenty-four hours' notice to the Chairman of the Board. 8. foregoing bye-laws shall be any sum not exceeding £5 sterling. All or any of the acts authorised *«y the bye -laws may be done by any of the j Wardens, < r any person duly appointed 1 or authorised by them. The Bos\r«l ;it a previous meeting applied to the Government for an annual grant of LlO to defray current expenses, but had not received an auswer to the application. The next moeting will be held on Ist November, when application for 'depasturing licenses are to be considered by the Board.
