CORRESPONDENCE.

AGRICULTURAL LEASING Otf THBJ " ' BLUE SPUR.' (To the Editor-) < Bib, — I notice in your last issue J;he report of a meeting at the Blue Spur in reference to an application made by me for 100 acres of land, situate near the Spur and adjoining other agricultural leases j also two letters bearing on the subject, but these I shaU take but little notice of, as they appear to .contain more private spleen than anything else. I shall therefore treat them with the contempt they richly deserve, and confine myself to a few remarks as regards the public meeting. Mr. T. F. Morris was the principal speaker, and drew the attention of those present to some land situate on Fentons Hill, presumably the property of Mr. Livingstone, If that gentleman has not complied with . the agricultural lease regulations, I suppose he is liable to forfeiture. Mr. Morris then goes on to say that the land I applied for is auriferous. He was backed up in this statement by Mr. Wilkinson, who, I am in a position to say, never drove a pick into the ground ; and I can prove he only attended the meeting for interested motives. Mr. Cousins also spoke at the meeting. This same individual has fenced all round the Blue Spur township in patches ; in fact it is a common remark on the hill that it is impossible to throw a stone without its falling into one of Cousins' paddocks. Jfow that he has got all he can lay his hands on, like the dog in the manger, he does not want any one else to get a share. He alludes to the commonage being all taken up, and not sufficient . room left to run his cattle. This very man, who so prominently comes forward to oppose my application, is just fencing 100 acres not half a mile from the land I have applied for. In conclusion, I wish to contradict your correspondent "Non Libet." He mentions in his letter that I am Mr. Hinde's manager. It is a falsehood concocted by himself for his own particular ends. No doubt he wanted the land himself. — I am, &C, CHABLEB DUNOAN.
