OBSTRUCTION OP FOOTPATHS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — Permit me through your paper to draw the attention of thoso who are concerned in protecting our straets against unnecessary obstructions to the very bad practice persisted in by some people of allowing their coals to lie on the footpath for several days. Last Sunday night was very wet and dark, and I had occasion to pass alcng O ban-street, but had not proceeded far before I found myself sprawling on tl\e top o£ a load of coals that had been. tipped on the footpath. If I were in the Council I would not only support tho socalled '• white elephants," but would advocate their increase — at all events I should certainly give all my support to have one placed on the footpath where Cr.' Hill places his coal for the apparent purpose of grazing the shins of quiet and respectable citizens. I speak feelingly on this matter, a3 I do not wish to find myself in a similar attitude again. — 1 am, etc.. Sore Shins.
