CAT AND BIRD SHOW IN GLASGOW.
The second show of cats, opened at Glasgow in May in premises fitted up for the purpose at 32 Gordon Street. The entries numbered 83 cats, in which almost every known branch of the feline tribe was represented. In the tortoise shell class there were several very
fair specimens, and Mr John Duncan's and Mr A Clark's male brown tabbies were excellent cats. The blue male tabbies were also very good, and the blacks were particularly fine. Miss Duncan's first prize black male, who is dignified with the name of Le Diable, is a bold and formidable looking fellow, as becomes an animal with such a suggestive appellative. There were several capital black and whites, the first prize being gained by the winner at last show. The prize-winner in the class of any other variety comes from the Bedford Hotel, and does great credit to bis mistress. Mr Caird of Garelochhead's long-haired white male is first for the second time, and there is nothing in the same class that can dispute his right. Mr William Hood's first prize red male tabby is famed for his rat-killing propensities, and appears to deserve his reputation. There are one or two very attractive white Persian cats, and several good collections of kittens, the first prize lot of five being quite a " study." As regards the birds, better cannot be said than that the show is more select than extensive.
