WARDEN'S JURISDICTION.
(To the Editor.) Sib, — A.n application was made by Mr. Peter M' Grill for a water race for flour mill purposes, to pass through a portion of the Moa Flat Station, private property. The application was duly received, and signed by Mr. J. B. Barton as district officer. On the day of hearing, the 25th inst, Mr. Barton coolly declared that he had no jurisdiction, and announced that the case would have to be heard before Mr. Simpson at the Dunstan. Thus the people here are not only prevented having a flour mill erected in time for next season's crop, but the parties for and against the application are compelled to go to an unexpected amount of trouble and expense. Evidently somebody has blundered, and who that somebody is, I Want to Know You Know. Teviot July 26th 1873.
