CORRESPONDENCE.
MR. GILLIES AND TIIE ISLAND BLOCK SALE. (To the Editor.) Sir, — In your last Mr. Gillies asks who was Mr. Nicholson's informant? The answer is very .simple. Mr. Xicholsort at an election meeting held in Ormoncl's Hotel, Roxburgh, on Saturday night, 2 1st inst., declared that Mr. Macandrew had shown him certain private letters having reference to sale of Island Block (which had not been published in the correspondence laid before the Council by the Government), and had also furnished him with a copy of the Executive minutes referring to Mr. Gillies mid the Inland Block sale, and which copy he declared he holds at present in ms possession. 1 think Mr. J. 0. Brown, who was a member of the Inquiry Commission, ought to look into this matter. — Yours, &c, Benqer. If requisite, my name can be fornished %■ tike '.editar of •" IJv&jiDkft Tiases/'
