LOCAL AND GENERAL.

The following members have been returned to represent Dunerlin : — Messrs. Davie, Turnbull, Reynolds, Fish, Turton, Haggitt, and Bathgate. On the 7th inst. , the Court of Appeal gave judgment in the Blue Spar mining case. The verdict of the jury was in nearly every particular reversed. We have not space to refer to the decision in this case, but will do so next week. The three candidates for provincial honors have been addressing the electors of Tuapeka during the week. Mr. Brown addressed an enthusiastic meeting at the Blue Spur on Monday evening, and received a unanimous vote of coufi<lence. Mr. Bastings on Tuesday evening addressed the electors at the Spar, and also received a similar vote. Mr. Pyke addressed a good meeting at'the Beaumont on Tuesday evening, when a vote of confidence was passed. Mr. Brown had an excellent meeting in Lawrence en Tuesday evening, when a unanimous vote of confidence in him was passed. Last evening Mr. Pyke addressed a crowded meeting of the electors in the Assembly Room Lawrence, when a vote fo confidence was carried by a large majority. We received a letter from the Secretary of Mr. Brown's Committee, apologising for advertising Mr. Brown's and Mr. Bastings' Commitee as 'a joint one. He states that Mr. Brown's Committee in their zeal to assist Mr. Bastings, hurriedly prepared the advertisement at a late hoar on Friday. Mr. Bastings is thus entirely exonerated in the matter.
