TAPANUI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

(To the Editor.) Sin, — If you will allow me, I would kindly advise "Paul Pry" to pry a little closer before ho singles out any single individual to discharge such poisonous venom on. llh should adjust the signals of his blunderbuss — if it has any — and take a little trouble to find out in which direction the target lies, before blazing away so much of his valuable ammunition so wide of the mark. I don't me.m to noil my fingers with even touching on the matter of of his dirty discharge, or tho scurrilous etTusion to which he alludes, as they are but a sample of the stock-in-trade of their author ; but I hope, Mr. Editor, you will not refuse me the i justice of pnbliclj stating that no letter from me has appeared in the Tuapeka. Tcmks since I waa elected mnnngerof the School Committee hero. 1 consider, if a member of that body wrote such a letter as either of these, it would be bigh time for him to cease connection with it. 1 was elected member of the School Committee by a large majority over any of the others nominated ; and was afterwards cl o=ien Secretary, and have acted, until recently (when I threw it up in disgust), in that capacity honestly to further the interest" of the school, on behalf of the public and my own family — sparing neither time, trouble nor expense. I have not the slightest fear to have all my doings laid fairly before the public, and to abide by the result ; but when such boys na " Paul Pry " and his opponents begin to call names, their parents should chastise them, for, if they are not checked in time and get shot at in return, they may rest assured that other marksmen will not fire so wide of the bull's-eye. I am, &c, John- TctrN-asoN-, Ex-Secretary School Committee. Tapanui, 23rd May, 1873.
