The tunnel will serve at the same time as an adit-drive for the Gabriels Gully Quartz Mining Co., Registered, and the claims held by Varcoe and Co., Clayton and Co., and Roberts and Co. on tfye same quartz reef. The holders of mining lease section 24, block 19, Tuapeka Wa&t (known as Trayes' lease), situate on line of the tunnel, h.ave transferred their interest in the lease to the Company. Mr. Gilbert Clark has also conceded to the Company, on very liberal terms, the sole right to mine upon his freehold^ which adjoins Trayes' lease. The Gabriels Gully Quartz Mining Co., Registered, have agreed to pay an annual rental on the portion of the tunnel used by them of' 20 per cent, of the cost of that portion, or a proportionate rental if used conjointly with other companies, and have taken 1000 shares in the Company. Application has b,een made to Government for an extended claim over the unoccupied ground adjoining the line of tunnel. It is proposed to sell 3000 Shares, the Company retaining 1500 for future disposal. Ap* lications for shares will be received by the Manager.

This Company is formed for the purpose of placing a Steam Dredge on the Molyneux River, near Alexandra, to work the deposits in the bottom of said river It is needless here to dilate on the richness of those deposits, it being so well known the quantities of gold obtained for the last 5 years by the dredges worked by manual labor. Tt is equally well known the days for dredging by manual labor are speedily passing away. It is contemplated to procure a dredge made wholly of iron, fitted with steam engine of 20-hor.se power nominal (capable of being worked up fy) 40-horse), and worked on the bucket and . ladder principle.
