The holders qf mining lease section 24, block 19, Tuapeka East (known as Trayes' lease), situate on the line of the tunnel, have transferred their interest in the lease to the Company, and'have agreed to take up 500 shares,. Mr. Gilbert Clark has also conceded to the Company, on very liberal terms, the sole right to mine upon his freehold, which adjoins Trayes' lease. The Gabriels Gully Quartz Mining Co., Registered, have agreed to pay an annual rental of the portion of the tunnel used by them of 20 per cent, of the cost of that portion, or a proportionate rental if used conjointly with other companies, and take 1000 shares in the Company. Application has been made to Government for an extended claim over the unoccupied ground adjoining the line of tunnel. , It is proposed to sell 30Q0 Shares, the Company retaining 1500 for future disposal. Applications for shares will be received by the Provisional Secretary. A meeting of t^ie Subscribers, which will be open to the public, will be held at ihe Victoria Hotel, Lawrence, on Tuesday Evening, March 4th, at 8 p.m.

This Company is formed for the purpose of placing a Steam Dredge on the Molyneux Kiver, near Alexandra, to work the deposits in the bottom of said river It is needless here to dilate on the richness of those deposits, it being so well known the quantities of gold obtained for the last 5 years by the ; dredges worked by inanuallabor. Tt is equally well known the days for dredging by manual labor a\-e speedily passing away. It is eoutempiated to procure a dredge made wholly of iron, fitted with steam engine, of 20-hprse power nominal (capable of being worked up to 40-horse), and worked on the bucket and ladder principle. The Provisional Committee have placed themselves in communication with the best engineering skill in the province (some being personally conversant with the nature of the river deposits), the whole being of opinion that there is no engineeringcliffieulty to contend with. It is contemplated to raise 1 ,000 tons per day. The cost per ton will not exceed Od, including wear and tear. The amount of ground is unlimited. There will be no promoters or paid up shares.
