PHOSPHOBYNE A Chemical Preparation of Phosphorus, with, the Vegetable Alkaloids Quinia, Cypripeden, Xanthoxylin, &c. Discovered, introduced, and extensively prescribed by Charles Leslie Bright, M. The action o^ the Kiosphodyne is twofold — on the one^ hand, increasing the principle which constitiites nervous energy, and on the other, the most powerful blood and flesh generating agent known : therefore, a marvellous medicine for renovating impaired, and broken* down constitutions If quickly;, improves the function of assimilation %o ■'sijich a degree, that where for years, an emaciated, anxious, cadaverous, and semi-vital condition has existed, the flesh will rapidly increase in quantity and firmness, and the whole system, return to a state of robust health. The Phosphodyne acts electrically upon the organisation } for instance, it assists nature to generate that human electricity renews and rebuilds the osseus, muscular, nervous, membranous, and organic systein3. It operates on the system without exciting care or thought upon the individual as to the process. It moves the lungs^ liver, heart, kidneys) stomach, ar^d, intestines, with a harmony, vigour, yet "mildness, unparalled in medicine. The Phosphodyne gives back to the human structure, in a suitable form, the phosphoric or animating element of life which has been wasted, and exerts an important influence directly, on the spinal marrow and nervous 1 system, o| a nujtritive, tonic, and ( invigorating character ; maintaining tha^t buoyant energy of the brain and muscular system which renders the mind cheerful, brilliant, and energetic, entirely overcoming that dull, inactive and sluggish disposition which manypersons experience in a!j' their actions. The beneficial effects of the Phosphodyneare frequently shown from, the first day of .its administration, by a remarkable increase of nervous power, with a feeling of vigor and comfort to which the patient has long been unaccustomed. Digestion is improved j the appetite increases wonderfully ; the bowels become regular ; the eyes brighter ; ,the skin clear and healthy; and the hair acquires atf ength, showing the importance of .the- action of the Phosphodyne on the organs of nutrition. MEDICAL OPINIONS. - Sir Charles Locock, Physical Accouehur to her Majesty the Queen, stated at a meetingof the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society that in thirteen cases of debility and nervous prostration he had effected permanent cures, .|by the use of Dr. Bright's-Phosphodyne, - Sir Wm. Ferguson, Bart, F h.S., Surgeon to Her Majesty .the' Queen, says :—"I: — "I have., repeatedly "prescribed Drl Bright's Phos-» phodyne, and found it an agreeable and beneficial remedy. I have but one objection regarding it, and that is. the elaborate process required in the preparation will not allow of the,' retail price Tbeing within the reach of all classes." Dr. Lancaster, the eminent Coroner, says : . — " Dr. Bright's Phosphodyne is calculated, to entirely supersede iron, mercury, sar^apar,ilia, quinine, and cod-liver oil." ' Dr. R. Quairi, F.R.C.P:, Physician to the Hospital for Consumption, Brompton, remarks : — "It cannot be doubted that this iPUosphajiic preparation will henceforth rank* foremost in therapeutics ; if generates all the,, important elements of the human frame, thepeculiar character of this substance fitting it for vital uses." • sir T. Lawrence says: — "I have found Dr.. Brig Tit's Phosphodyne an excellent remedy in skin diseases. 1 presume it is byoxydisation." Professor Syme says,: — " The. effects of tjie phosphodyne in obstinate- cases of disease., 'are as astonishing as perplexing." Dr. Hanfield Jones, F.R.G.P 1 ., F.RS. fc Physician to St. Mary's Hospital, says, in Atrophy and General Debility Phosphodyne i&a.most; admirable remedy; it invigorates tke nutritive functions, and' increases the vital energy — "it not only acts as an absorbent," but retards or repairs the waste of tissue, and restores the nutritive functions totneir normal condition.
