Peebles known as the "Seer of the Ages," delivered the. nrst of his lectures in Dunedin, before a crowdet^nd respectable audience, on Tuesday night, upon " spiritualism as a phenomenon and a philosophy." A correspondent asks "why the 'leading articles- which are made the basis for deciding the lowest tender for drugs for the Tuapeka Hospital cannot be submitted to the Committee, so that they instead of the medical gen'lemen could, decide upon the most suitable tender?" OHr correspondent can see "no more difficulty in the way of the Committee deciding upon the tenders for drags than upon the tenders for groceries, so long as a list of the ' leading articles ' is supplied ; " and he believes both the public and thetenderers would be better satisfied if hi& suggestion were adopted^
