WAIPOEI WESLEYAN CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.

TMie anniversary sermons of this Church, were preached by the Eev. Henry Bull on Sunday the 12th iust., when collections were made in aid of the Building Fund. On the following "Wednesday, the public tea meeting was held. The tables were laden with a sumptuous and well-arranged fare — provided by Mrs. Pilling— which would have been well appreciated in any of our large towns, as indeed it appears to have been in the elevated legions of Waipori. Judging from the numbers who waited about the doors, eager to secure a place at the tables when an egress movement was made, it sefiraed as though the whole of the good folks ol Waipori had been aroused to take part in the ' enjoyment of a social gathering, the like to which occurs so seldom among them. The tables being cleared, the vases of flowers arranged, and the choir — under the leadership of Mr. Thomas Jones, located, the chair was taken by Mr. Bull, and a hymn having been sung, prayer was offered by the Key. John Mcnzies. Mr. J. Wright, the Treasurer, then made his financial statement. The result of the anniversary services was £21 13s. od., which, after discharging all liabilities, left; a balance of £2 in the hands of the Treasurer. The chairman having referred to the encouraging position and prospects of the Church, proceeded to deliver an earnest address on several Christian duties. An excellent and appropriate speech was made by Mr. Menzies, who passed in review some important topics of the day, and concluded by imparting sound advice to those present. A considerable party having been brought by Mr. Coverlid in his conveyance to Waipori, there were several laymen present, who gave well-ap-preciated address s. Mr. J. Carey on " Wax-works ;" Mr. Tonks ou " Christian Enterprise ;" and Mr. Coverlid on " Social Gatherings. During the evening the choir rendered several chants and anthems, which were well received. The usual votes of thanks to the ladies and the singers, brought to a close a most pleasing and harmonious meeting.
