Young Abdalkh is out of a thoroughbred mare, imported from Tasmania by John Weir, Esq., of the Western District, Victoria ; is 8 years old, and has proved himself a sure foal r getter. He has left some of the most promising stock in the Province in tho Clutha District. Abdallah (bred by Mr. Batson in 1847) was got by The Provost, out of Barbara'; Barbara • was by Plenipotentiary,- out oi Safii, who was got by a son of Dick Andrews (Dick Andrews was by Joe Andrews, a son of Eclipse.) The dam of Saffi was got by Totteridge (Totteridge was by Diingannon, a son of Eclipse), out of sister to Mariame, by Squirrel, out of Miss Meredith, by Cade (son of the Godolphin Arabian), out of the Little Hartley Mare> The Little Hartley Mare was by Barlot*s Childers (own brother to Flying Childers), out of Large Hartley Mare, whose pedigree in three generations can be traced to a royal mare. The Provost, the sire of A bdallah, was by The Saddler, out of Rebecca, by Lottery ; her dam by Cervantes, out of Antiception ; mare of her dam by Benningbrook (Benningbrook by King Fergus, a son Eclipse). Mares served last year not in foal will be served free this year. Abdallah's stock in the Clutha District are turning out the most durable weight carrying hacks in the province. Surprise, bred by John Hamilton, Esq., is by that well-known Clydesdale sire, Thane of Clyde, imported to Southland by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. Dam, bred by A. Clerke, Esq., Longford, Tasmania, and imported to this province by the Messrs. Clerke Bros, for breeding purposes on their farm. Surprise is a dark dappled bay, stands 17 hands high, and is now rising bix year 3. He is a remarkably compact and powerful horse, with immense bone, fine flat leg, unequalled action, and docile temper. He has proved himself a sure foal getter, and his stock are not surpassed by the progeny of any horse which has ever served in the Southland district, where he has travelled three years in succession. Surprise took second prize at two, three, and four years old at the Invercargill Annual Show, against all comers. A Paddock, for the accommodation of mares coming from a distance, will be provided, at Moa Flat, free of charge, without responsibility. Greatest care taken. Terms, £2 55., payable on February Ist, 1873. A. J. M'PHERSON. IVANHOE TTTILL Stand this Season at Moa Flat YV Station. Ivanhoe is nine years old, and was bred by the Duke of Hamilton. His sire Sir Walter Scott, gained the first prize at the Highland Agricultural Society Shew at Dumfries in 1860 ; the first prize in Glasgow in 18C1 ; and at Battersea in 1862. His dam Maggy also gained the tirst prize as a 3-year old at the Highland Society Show ; the second prize among the best draught mares in 1862 ; and the firat prize as a brood mare in 1863. Young Lawrence's sire, Young Champion, was by Champion. Dam, a purebred Clydesdale mare, imported from Tasmania, aud sold for upwards ,of 100 guineas'. Terms, £3 ; Groom's Fee, ss.
