At the conclusion of the examination the prizes were distributed, after which three hearty cheers were called for the teacher, and three more for the School Committee and donors of prizes. The vacation was then announced, and thereafter the pupils and the visitors dispersed, closing the school work of the present year. During 1872, 78 pupils were on the roll. At the close of the year, 54 were attending, while the average for the whole year was 40 to 41. The lowness of the average is owing to the severity of the winter, and the standing obstacle caused by the Molyneux River, which nearly equally divides the number'of the scholars. The school was raised to the position of a main school on the Ist October, 1872.
