BLUE SPUR SCHOOL.

The annual examination of the children attending the Blue Spur gohool, took place on Friday last. The members of Committee preseut were — Mr. John Connack, and Mr. Evan Evans ; and among the visitors were Uev. Mr. Cameron and the Rev. Mr. "Bull. Mr. M'Lellau schoolmaster, and Miss Pope schoolmistress, examined the children in the variouß branches they had been studying during tho year, in all of which marked progress was visible. It must be stratifying to the teachers as well as to the parents, to observe the high state of proficiency the pupils of the school have arrived at — a proficiency which reflects credit upon themselves and upon their instructors. The examination lasted four hours, was brought to a close by some excellent vocal music by the children, the*solos by Miss Venellina Morris and* Miss Sarah Evans, forming a noticeable and pleasing feature therein. The principle on which the prizes were distributed, was similar to that in vogue in the majority of the schools of the province, via.j from the daily record of woric accomplished. Tho prizes for singing fell to Veueliina Morris and virah Evans. There were 16 exhibits of 'ewing. The prizes were awarded to Venellina Morris, Victoria Morris, Emma. Vfargetts, Helen Margetta, and Mary Vlargetts ; specially commended — Johanna Drew, Edith Trerise, and E;. M'Laren. Mr. Cormack here announced the termination of this part of the pro- - gramme, and proposetPa vote of thanks to the master and mistress for the success which had attended the examination, and for the care and patience they had bestowed on the pupils during the year, which was heartily respaidud to. Mr, M'Lellan suitably responded for himself and Miss Pope, and announced that the vacation would extend till the 20ch January.
