WASTE LAND BOARD.
At Wednesday's meeting there were pre■ent the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Duncan, Tolmie, Allen, and Hughes, and the follow ing business was transacted :— j^j. j jj vbn TunzlemaH. wrote comnLinin^iluM^yaßCftky White Brosl. who &li7™ZtioZ\ngti*W&*Kp Goldfields commonage, on which he is depasturing ■beep, the boundary beuigan imaginary line ; while White Bros, threaten a prosecution for trespass. It was stated that the Board had no power to interfere. William Doak wrote asking if the contractors for Government road works,- and for road boards, had a right to remove stone from Crown lands without licenses. It was resolved to ask Mr Doak to make a specific complaint against trespassers. The fixing of the number of Wardens for each hundred, and the places and dates of elections of "Wardens, was referred to the Chief Commissioner.
Thos Turner applied to purchase sections 2and 3, block3, Blackstone Hill; and Warden Carew recommended that the Hill's Creek reserve should be surveyed for sale into sections to meet the present holdings and fences. The whole matter was referred to the Government with a suggestion that Hill's Creek village be surveyed in accordance with the garden's letter. The following applications to purchase lands held under agricultural Jease_ were sanctioned ; — J. W. Robertson/ section 8, block 21, and section 83, block 3, Shotover ; P. M'Bride, section 92, block 3, Shotover, and section 2, .Upper Wakatip^W^Hayes, section 7, block 2, Tuapeka East; A. 0. Thomson, sections 34 and 39, block 9. Shot-; over ; J. M'Bride, section L Upper Waka«P« P J. r>. FoKuid, sections 41 to 45 and 67 to 69, block 2, Leaning Rock ; J. G. Gardner, sections 39 and 26, block: 4, Table Hill. In the last-mentioned application, it was ordered that the railway reserve should be marked in the grant. The question as to the true position of the boundary of Waireka and Tuturau Hundreds' was referred to Mr Baker, who is to visit the ground, take evidence, and report. The assessor reported on the carrying cap* city of runs 441, 442, and 443, as follows :— 441, 375 sheep"; 442," 250 sheep; 443, 5300 sheep. The land w«a ordered to be sold by auction on the usual terms. Mr Warden Robinson reported with reference to the application of R. JE. Field, to purchase part of the residence area of John Creighton, Naeeby. The application was refused.
The releasing of run 359, assessed to carry 14,250 sheep ; No. 394, to carry 8106 sheep; and 3C3, to carry 4300 sheep, waß next considered, and it was resolved to release them tinder the new regulations for agricultural areas, with the conditions as recommended by the Government, included, viz., the agricultural portions as marked on the map, to be renewable at any time without compensation.
Run 303 was ordered to be sold, with the condition attached that the new tenant should not have possession till the 16th January, 1874 Mr Gellibrand's application for land in the W-»ikouaiti district -was then considered. This was an application to have the land refeired to put. up for sale at 10s an acre. It had been surveyed at Mr Gellibrand's expense, but subsequently a number of petitions against the sale were lodged by miners and others on the ground that the land was > auriferous, and was likely to be required for mining purposes. The Executive having resolved to refuse to sell the land, ±*»c Board ordered the survey fees to be returned.
