WASTE LAND BOARD.
At last week's meeting of the Waste Land Board there were present — the Chief Commissioner (in the chair), Messrs John Allen, Duncan and Hughes. Messrß Mouat and M'Keay, for A. F. M'Kenzie, applied for a saw-mill license to cut timber on block 4, Glenkenich. — Granted from Ist January, subject to the usual conditions.
Mr A. Macarthur, manager of run 202, wrote, denying that he had closed the road through his pre-emptive right. Edward Murphy's offer to retain his lease of the Clutha Sandspit, if he got the present year rent free, was declined Thos. Hammond's application to purchase sections 5, 6446, 6, block 5, Waitahuna East, was agreed to. The Assessor reported that run 303 could carry 4300 sheep ; No. 394, 8100 sheep ; No. 350, 14,250. The request of W. Falconer, Captain of the Otepopo Volunteers, that sections 7, S, and 9, block 23, Herbert, should be reserved for their driJl-shed, and section 22 to 29 inclusive, block 29, for a rifle range, was declined.
On the application of Taylor and White to purchase sections 3 and 17, block 2, Midwakatip, it was resolved to open section 17, the other section having already been leased by the Warden. Mr M'Glashan applied for the extension of leave to J. Saunders to prospect for coal at Uwake River. — Three months' extension was granted. Robert Rcnnic's application for a lease of the Boat Harbor Reserve was declined.
