Monday, Novbxbqi^ 18. (Before Vincent Pyke E»q.. R.M , and Dr. Stewart, ,T.P.) Copland v. Monat. — Defendant pleaded puilty to a charge of assault, and was fined £2, with 18s. costs.

Curregh v. Somers. — Claim for 810. Mr. M'Coy appeared for defendant, who pleaded insolvency, and called Mr. Abel, who testified to his filing his schedule. Judgment was given for plaintiff.

Evans v. Elliott.— Claim of £10 for damage done to a cow by being worried by defendant's dog. Mr. Coolaud appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. M'Coy for defendant. Several witnesses were called for the plaintiff, but their tes imony did not clearly trace the damage done to plaintiff's cow by defendant's dog. Tho case wh3 dismissed with costs.

Wliittet v. Mtars.— Claim for £50. Adjourned for a week: •

Fitzgerald v. Jn<jrram.-r?Claim for 255. Mr. Mouat for the defendant. It appeared from the evidence that some four years ago, plaintiff was asked by Mr. Todd to convey his wife and children from Lawrence down the Tuapeka Creek. This he did. Todd left the district without paying the account, and shortly afterwards died. ' Ingrain married the widow ; and now plaintiff sought to recover the 25a from him. Mr Mouat, for tho defence, said that although when a mm married a woman, he married her liabilities, in the case of a widow, he did not become responsible for her defunct husband's debts. Plaintiff was nonsuited.
