This Society has been formed by an altern tion of the Constitution of the Second Ne\Zealand Building and Mutual Investment Society, 18G4. By its Constitution it is able to tr;in«ae every description of business usually undertaken by Building Societies, both on tin terminating and the permanent principle. Two Series of Shares oh the terminating system are at present in force —one datin» from February, 18G4, and the other from February, 1870, The Society has the power to etart new series of such shares at any tim< when it may appear advisable. Two New Series of Shares, called Slmres o' Class A and Class B in the Permanent Series, are now being issued. Shares in Class A are of the amount of twenty-five pounds each, fclie principal beinp paid up in one sum. On these half-yearly dividends are paid at the rate of nine percent, per annum, and an annual bonus out of the surplus profits. They may be withdrawn at any time on three months' notice, and form the most eligible investment for surplus funds now to be found in the money market. Shares in Class B are of twenty-five pounds' each, and will be realised after seventy-fiv monthly payments of five shillings each have been made. The holders of them will also be entitled to a bonus on realisation, equal to a proportionate share of the surplus profits of the Society during the period over, whioh the monthly payments have run. The moneys of the First and Second Series are advanced to Shareholders on mortgage of freehold or leasehold properties, or upon Shares in the Society wholly or in part paid up. The amounts available for advance are sold by auction at the monthly meetings to the highest bidder, whoj from the date of the advance, pays a redemption fee of 10s. per month foi each L6O Share advanced until the termination of the Series. Moneys of the Permanent Series are lent on similar securities, repayable by monthly instalments extending over a fixed number of years.
