Moorhouse and Atkinson went to Patea after the nomination. Moorhouse addressed a meeting at Hawera — one hand majority in his favor. Atkinson was prevented from making an address through injury. Moorhouse declined to ask for an additional polling place, though urged by Atkinson to do so, as there would be a majority for Atkinson in the district.
