THE VOLUNTEERS.
' The opening match tof the season wa9 fired this morning- at the Anderson's Bay Range, between < officers ■ i and ■ non-commissioned officers' and the gunners of the Dunedin Artillery, the conditions being seven shots at 'ranges of 200 and 600 yards ; Wimbledon targets and position ; Government rifles and ammunition; no sighting ' shots, &c. The •average is Very fair considering the small amount of practice the teams have had, and as usual fortune' favored the "detachment." Lieut. Muir, with 44 points, is the highest on the -officers side* and Gunner Ball, 39, is the highest fceorer for the Gunners'. The following are the scores :— <■ OFFICERS. '■ • '
