THE SUPERINTENDENCY.

Seme misapprehension has arisen ia consequence of a mistake into which our contemporary haß fallen. On Saturday the public were informed of a "curious complication " consequent upon Mr 'J oluiie's election, according to our contemporary's reading of the laws, since both ;&uperinten<lent and Deputy-Superintendent are away, the "office of Superintendent devolves upon the Speaker of the Provincial Council." This is an error. The only contingencies upon which, by the Act of 1866, the Speaker could assume that office, are the disallowance by the Governor of a Superintendent's election, his removal from office, his death, or resignation. None of these events having occurred, matters remain in spjitu quo. — Star.
