LOBBY RUMORS.
A private telegram from Wellington says : — "Mr Firzherbert's speech took nearly nine houra in iU delivery. The rumxtted amendment was not irade; but is believed to be in reserve. The secret, however, is out. He stated that he opposed the Government because Mr Reeves last session voted against the Wellington railway; and, because Messrs Reeves and Ormond voted against the Wellington Debts BilL The Luna left to-day with Mr Macandrew, and to bring up the mails, but has returned owing to stress of weather. A regular gale is blowing." Greville's telegram says:— "There are great speculations as to the fate of the Jdinistry. The general opinion is that they will bo defeated by a narrow majority.
