THE TEVIOT LAND SALE.

The following resolutions have been passed by the Mount Benger Progress Association ;—; —

First. " The Mount Benger Progress Committee deplore the action taken by the Provincial Government in disposing of the land in this district, particularly of the Island Block, the 50,000 acre Block, to Mr. Clarke, and, more recently, the 20,000 acre Block to Messrs. Cargill and Anderson ; each of whichjblocks embraces a very large extent of first class agricultural land which was urgently required, and would have been immediately taken up for settlement, had the Government afforded facilities for such purpose." Second. " This Committee, while deploring the wholesale disposal to capitalists of such large blocks of land, desire to point out the glaring injustice of the action of the Government in raising such large amounts of money in the district, and expending, comparatively speaking, nothing whatever in improvements of roads, or, in fact, any necessary public work in any part of the districtt"
