WARDEN'S COURT, GLENORE.

(Before Mr. Warden Pyke.) Friday, August 9.

Seventeen Chinamen had been summoned for not having taken out miner's rights. Two of the number did not appear, and warrants were issued for their apprehension. One celestial, producing his miner's right, was discharged ; and six others, proving that they were working on private property, •were allowed to depart rejoicing. The remaining eight were each fined 10s. aud costs. They all pleaded the most extreme poverty, and averred, with many Chinese oaths and tears, that they had not a shilling between them. However, on being informed that, in default of payment, they would be sent to Tokomairiro gaol for seven days, they paid the penalties.
