WASTE LAND BOARD.

The Waste Land Board met on Wednesday. Present : — The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Allan and Hughes.

The application of Peter Walker to lease sections 1 and 2, block 1, Shotover district, was referred to the Government.

A petition from tradesmen and others at Blacks was read, stating that th y do not desire the survey of Ophir to be cancelled, and that they are anxi >us the sale sh uld take place as early as possible, while they are not des : rous for the site of the town on the north side of the Manukerikia.

A petition from the Hawksbury settlers, objpeting to the sa c of the remnant of the Hawksbury Hundred applied for by Mr Douglas, was referred to the Government. The plan of the proposed subdivision of section 69a, block 14, Glenkenich (the sale of which as a whole was objec.ed to by Mr J. C. Brown), was approved. The request by the surveyor for an extension of time for surveying the land applied for by Orbell and Miller was agreed to. On the report of Ranger Irving on John Reid's application to purchase section 13, block 5, Otakia, it was resolved it should be sold by auction as land of special value. Upset price, 21s an acre. The opinion of the Provincial Solicitor on the request of Nicholas and Martin for a transfer of lease was considered. Res rived —That the cancellation of the original application must take place, if Nicholas and Martin canuot obtain a legal transfer from the original paitiea. William Siinmonds's application to purchase agricultural leases 8 and 17, block 2, and 11, block 10, Tuapeka, were approved : tbe road line to be reserved.

The letter of Cable and Drummond, representing that the survey made was not in accordance with their application, was referred to the surveyor for report. On James Lawrence's application for a coal lease at Shepherd's Creek, Bannockburn (3 acres), the consent of the runholder having been obtained, it was resolved that he make the usual deposit, and the lease aft r survey to be granted on the usual terms.
