WASTE LAND BOARD.
Th c Waste Land Board met on Thursday. Present — the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Hnghe3 aud Allen. It was resolved that block 16, Cromwell, be put up in five acre sections at the next sale of Crown lands. Upset price, L 2 an aero. Captain Fraser's letter, urging the necessity for surveying the boundary line between Otago and Canterbury Lake, Ohan, was referred to the Government. On Edmund "Smith's letter, respecting the road to the North Presbyterian Church, Tuakitoto, it was resolved to reserve a road 60 lines wide across the Crown lands, in a line" indicated on the plan. Henry Detert's aud B. A. Leggi's applications to purchase land under agricultural lease?, were sanctioned. The letters from water-race owners, asking that a reserve one mile wide on each side of the_Teviot Kiver for six miles should be made if Messrs Cargili and Anderson's sale is sanctioned, were referred to the Government, who were requested to send surveyors to mark the extent along the Teviot River required for the miuing interests, and to report as to the width necessary for the maintenance of the works. The time for completing the survey of Messrs Cargill and Anderson's purchase was extended to the period of detention, on a declaration being made before the Warden of the district as to the detention from snow. Henry Faulkner's application to have a bush reserve on block 2, Clarendon, put up for sale, was declined. E. A. Dagg's application for a coal lease near Cromwell was considered. The assent of the runholder being obtained, the deposit paid acd the site surveyed, the lease to be granted on the usual terms.
