TUAPEKA MOUTH. (From our own Co-respondent

July 9th. A meeting of the school committee jras held here on Monday evening the Bth inst., for the purpose of receiving and taking into consideration the resignation "of Mr. A. B. Matthews, teacher, who has laboured in the district with success for upwards of two years. Mr. Matthews in tendering his resignation briefly stating his reasons for so doing, and thanked the committee for their courtesy and kindness toward him during his term of office. It was duly proposed and seconded that the same be received. While the committee admitted the reasonableness" of the action the teacher had taken, they regretted the occurrence of circumstances, to necessitate his rather sudden departure from amongst them, It was proposed that Mr. Hisjop be written to, stating the inconvenience the committee had been put to in the matterfrom theshort notice given, and desiring that immediate steps be taken to appoint a successor. It was proposed and seconded that Mr. Matthews be allowed to proceed to his new sphere of labour at Clarks Flat on the 2nd inst; Ultimately it was agreed to appoint Mr. T. W. ftlailler as, teacher, pro fen}, and relieve tho present teacher on the.] sth inst. Mr. Matthews, we believe, carries with Jiim the best wishes of this neighbourhood fpr his future wefare.
