SIR FRANCIS DILLON BELL.

The Evening "Post" says : — Anxiously as the general public is anticipating the arrival of the mail, there is one gentlemm in the community whose pangs of hope deferred must indeed be making his heart sick. He is not one of the numerous class who expect remittances, to these the delay in the arrival of the mail is often felt as a happy relief. No ; the gentleman we refer to has a soul above sordid pelf — he is anxious for the arrival of the mail, not because it may come laden with filthy lucre, but because he expects a title by it. Mr. Dillon Bell, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is now counting the lagging moments until the arrival of the mail enables him to emerge from the chrysalis of plain Mister, and become the brilliant butterfly, Sir Francis Dillon Bell. fn plain words, we believe the mail is expected to bring the new Speaker his patent of knighthood. It is rather unusual to knight the Speaker of a Colonial House of Representatives until he has been twice elected to the chair ; but Mr Bell and his friends are probably perfectly aware that if he was once out of the chair he would certainly never have the opportunity of filling il again.

The young lady at Allemagoozluin who was up with th,e lark is now down with the rheumatism.
